what we know so far about Lana Del Rey’s new album

Since Lana′s new song, Love was released on February the 18th everyone was going crazy, crazy. You know that is what happens when reportedly the queen of modern music is going to release a new album. It had the classic Lana vibes and the vintage music video typical for her. Gossip was also saying that the new album is gonna be called Young And In Love which was just being proved by this song. Everything was just a rumor and it did not have it this time. Not a long time after this song Lana released the trailer for the new album which definitely destroyed the idea of her album being called Young and In Love. The accompanying Lust for Life album trailer features Del Rey as a mysterious figure living inside the Hollywood sign in Los Angeles, echoing the combination of vintage film and space imagery from her latest music video for “Love.”

Lana has released the title track from her upcoming album Lust for Life. The song aired today on Mistajam’s BBC Radio 1 show and features vocals from The Weeknd, which Del Rey revealed in an interview with Courtney Love for this month’s Dazed magazine. She also said that “Lust for Life” was reworked after consulting Swedish songwriter-producer and pop guru Max Martin, who suggested that Del Rey’s verse becomes the song’s chorus. An album release date for Lust for Life has not yet been confirmed. In her interview with MistaJam, Del Rey noted that the album also has “an acoustic side,” including one song called “Yosemite” and her previously announced collaboration with Sean Lennon, “Tomorrow Never Came.” Rumors also say that this album has to be pop-influenced and radio friendly. Which might explain the sound of Lust for life.screen-shot-2017-03-29-at-10-04-54-am

Releasing date

The releasing date is not known yet. Lana just said on twitter that it might be “coming out soon.” But the same thing said, Dan Smith from Bastille 3 years ago and the album was released just in September of 2016, haha. But If Del Rey says it’s coming soon, it’s probably coming soon. The best way to find out for sure may be to attend a concert of hers because her track record shows she loves to go directly to her fans with information on release dates.

Features

The Weekend is the one we already know about. Elsewhere, rumors are flying about names new and old being involved. Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon (yes, John Lennon’s son) are thought to be involved, and the logo of their record company (Chimera Music) is the winged-creature to the right of the Weeknd’s logo you see above. Lennon has already started helping to promote Del Rey’s album on his Facebook page, and teased fans with a mysterious message: “The ‘ingredients’ she puts in look very fascinating!”Del Rey has also recently expressed her admiration for Courtney Love on Twitter, and songwriter BØRNS did not exactly dismiss a fan’s hope that he’d team up with Del Rey for a collaboration.

Inspirations

Lana teased her new music’s political undertones in her BBC Radio 2 interview, explaining that she began the recording process “thinking that the whole record was going to have sort of a, like, the ’50s, ’60s feeling, with some kind of Shangri-La, early Joan Baez influences.” But as the record progressed, her perspective changed. “As the climate kept on getting more heated politically, I found (that) lyrically everything was just directed towards that,” she said. “So because of that, the sound just got really updated, and I felt like (talking) to the younger side of the audience I have. I guess it’s just a little more socially aware. That’s kind of a global feeling.” In a release for Love, Lana described the differences between Lust for Life and her previous albums. “I made my first four albums for me, but this one is for my fans and about where I hope we are all headed,” she said.

    • Go and do it! Listen everything she had ever done. There is a chance you will love it and there is chance you wont. You need a special sense of understanding of art to like it.

  2. There are a few past songs of hers that I really liked, but I just can’t get on board with her being considered the queen of modern music. I will still check out the album, because I love new music, and I love being proven wrong or have something challenge my taste and then I end up loving it, lol. Knowing that she has some collabs with artists I like is super intriguing. Thanks for your review!

  3. Interesting that Sean Lennon might be involved! I found his dad’s voice to be so soothing and I loved it although I was young back then. I liked some of Lana’s songs but my girls loved her music. It was more their taste than mine. Her album Born to Die had a really sad tone and it reminds me of my daughter who struggled with depression. Now, I can’t help but think of that difficult time in my daughter’s life every time I hear her music. Hoping this new album will change that.

    • It’s no secret that we Lana’s music connections us with sad things that happened in our lives. For example, her album Born to Die reminds me of times when I bullied in primary school and her other album Honeymoon reminds me of break up from with my gf. Lana’s music often reminds us of something sad, because it is sas itself. x
